SETUP MENU – Reference Generator (GEN)
The Reference Generator (
GEN
) is a precision tool providing high-quality audio test
signals. The THD+N of the generated sine wave is better than –144dB. For acoustical
measurements, uncorrelated white and pink noise generators are available. The signal
frequency’s range extends to subsonic and ultrasonic ranges, from 10Hz to 43.5kHz. For
hardware and digital signal path testing, special features include digital constant
(
CONST
) and up/down counting function (
TRIAN
). Use caution with these functions, as
they can damage your loudspeakers if used incorrectly.
There are five active buttons in
GEN
mode:
F1 – ON
Switches
the
GEN
on or off.
F2
Toggles
between
CH1
and
CH2
setup (if
CH
LINK
in
MODE
menu is Off).
F4
increases the adjustment resolution from 1/12 octave (
COARSE
) to 1Hz
(
FINE
).
F5 – MODE
Switches to
MODE
menu for advanced options.
F6 – EXIT
Switches to main
SETUP
menu.
Parameter Window
The
cursor keys can be used to highlight the selected parameter, and the
parameter wheel can be used to change its value. The
cursor keys provide for fast
frequency adjustment in 1/12 octave increments.
For the signals
CONST
and
TRIAN
the enlarged symbols appear in the middle of the
display to warn against these non-audio signals.
The following parameters can be viewed and/or adjusted:
TYPE
selects the type of generated test signal:
SIN
(sine wave),
FREQ SW
(sine
wave with frequency sweep),
PINK
(pink noise),
WHITE
(white noise),
CONST
(digital constant) or
TRIAN
(digital up/down counter).
