HTTP Web browser or by using Telnet with menu-driven or command line interfaces.
NOTE:
Remember that IP addresses are unique. If an address isn’t available, contact your
Internet service provider to obtain one.
2.1.2 Configuration Using Telnet and SSH
1. Activate your workstation’s
command prompt program
(such as PuTTY) and
access your switch via the
Internet by entering the
correct IP address.
NOTE:
The factory default is
192.168.0.254: Connect
directly via the console
port to configure a unique
IP address. A command
prompt program such as
PuTTY will provide you
with the option of choosing
either Telnet or SSH
(Secure Shared). SSH is
an encrypted protocol
that’s ideal for ISP workers
who need to be extra
careful when managing
their switches.
2. Click “open” to display a command prompt screen.
