Updating your blade server configuration
When you start your blade server for the first time after you add or remove an internal option or an
external SCSI device (if the storage expansion unit has been installed), you may need to reset system
defaults in BIOS setup. See Chapter 2, " Configuring your blade server", in the Intel
®
Server
Compute Blade SBX44: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide for more
information about the BIOS Setup Utility program.
Some options have device drivers that you need to install. See the documentation that comes with
your option for information about installing any required device drivers.
If you populate a blade server with more than one microprocessor, your blade server can now
operate as an SMP server. Therefore, you might need to upgrade your operating system to support
SMP. See Chapter 5, "Installing the operating system," and your operating-system documentation
for additional information.
Input/output connectors and devices
The input/output connectors available to your blade server are supplied by the system chassis. See
the documentation that comes with your system chassis for information about the input/output
connectors.
