Chapter 3: Basic Installation
Please first check your PC’s network components. The TCP/IP protocol stack and Ethernet network adapter
must be installed. If not, please refer to your Windows-related or other operating system manuals.
The default IP address of the gateway is
192.168.1.1
and the subnet mask is
255.255.255.0
.
Please
configure your PC to obtain an IP address through 8860-C1’s DHCP server or a fixed IP address between
192.168.1.2
to
192.168.1.253
.
If you encounter any problem accessing the gateway’s web interface, it is
advisable to
disable
any kind of software firewall on your PCs. Retail firewall software may block access to
the default
192.168.1.1
IP address for the gateway.
Please follow the steps below for your PC’s network environment installation.
Connecting Your Gateway
1. Connect the supplied phone cable to the DSL port on the back of your gateway and connect the other
end to the phone outlet on the wall.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable to any Ethernet port on the back of your gateway and connect the other end
to the Ethernet port on the back of your computer.
3. Connect the Power Adapter to the port labeled “Power” on the back of your gateway. Plug the other end
of the Power Adapter into the nearest power outlet on the wall.
4. Turn the gateway on by pushing the On/Off button on the back of your gateway to the On position.
