BOILER INSTALLATION
Warnings.
These boilers are used to heat water to below boiling point in atmospheric
pressure.
They must be connected to a heating system and domestic water circuit
Main dimensions.

V- Electrical connection
Gas connection (appliance category II2H3+).
Our boilers are designed
to operate with natural gas (G20) and LPG. Before connecting the gas line,
ensure that all system fuel pipelines are perfectly clean, and remove any
residue that could impair appliance efficiency. Also make sure the gas
corresponds to boiler specifications (see boiler dataplate). If different, the
appliance should be converted for operation with the specific type of gas
required (see converting appliance for other gas types). The dynamic gas
supply pressure must also be checked (natural or LPG) according to the
type used in the boiler; as insufficient levels could reduce generator power
and cause malfunctions.
Ensure that the gas cock connection is correct as shown in the assembly
sequence given in the figure. The gas supply pipe must be suitably
dimensioned according to current regulations in order to guarantee correct
gas flow to the boiler even in conditions of max. generator output and to
guarantee appliance efficiency (technical data). The coupling system must
conform to standards.
Water connection.
Before making the water connections, all system piping
must be cleaned thoroughly to remove any residue that could impair boiler
efficiency. Water connections must be made in a rational way using the
couplings on the boiler template. The boiler safety valve outlet must be
connected to a special runoff. Otherwise, the manufacturer declines any
responsibility in case of flooding if the drain valve cuts in.
Important: to preserve the life and efficiency of the rapid-type exchanger,
it is advisable to install the “polyphosphate proportioner” kit in the presence
of water whose characteristics can give rise scale deposits (in particular,
and for example, the kit is recommended when water hardness is higher
than 25 degrees French).
Electricity connection
. The Nike Star boiler is designed with IPX4D
protection rating. Electrical safety of the unit is guaranteed when correctly
connected to an efficient earthing system as specified by current safety
standards.
Caution
: Immergas S.p.A. declines all liability for damage or physical injury
caused by failure to connect the boiler to an efficient earthing system or
failure to observe CEI reference standards.
Also ensure that the electrical installation corresponds to maximum absorbed
power specifications as shown on the boiler dataplate.
Boilers are supplied complete with an “X” type power cable without plug.
The power cable must be connected to a 230V-50Hz mains supply with the
correct pole sequence L-N and earth connection
; the mains power supply
must also be equipped with a multi-pole circuit breaker with contact opening
gap of at least 3 mm.
When replacing the power supply cable, contact a qualified technician (e.g.
the Immergas Technical Assistance Service). In the event of power cable
replacement, contact an Authorised Immergas Service Centre for
assistance.
The power cable must be laid as shown.
In the event of mains fuse replacement on the control card, use a 2A quick
blow fuse. For the main power supply to the appliance, never use adapters,
multiple sockets or extension leads.
N.B.
When connecting the appliance, if the correct L-N polarity is not
observed the boiler does not detect the flame and inhibits start-up. Also in
the same case, if the neutral is powered with residual voltage over 30V, the
boiler will probably operate, but only temporarily. Measure the voltage
readings with suitable tools; avoid the use of mains tester screwdriver.
Ambient thermostat electrical connection On/Off - timer.
The Nike Star
Ambient boiler is designed to be used on its own or with the ambient
thermostat or chronothermostat On/Off and the timer. For both components,
in the case of a single fitting, the connection should be made on terminals
6 and 9, removing the jumper P1. Whereas, if both are present, the room
thermostat should be connected to terminals 8 and 9 and the timer on
terminals 6 and 7 after removing the jumper P1, see wiring diagram.
Caution:
Boiler pipelines must never be used to earth the electrical or
telephone lines. Ensure elimination of this risk before making the boiler
electrical connections.
Room ventilation.
The room where the boiler is installed must have at least as much air entering
as that required for regular combustion and room ventilation. The natural
air flow must occur directly through:
- permanent openings made in the walls of the room being ventilated,
and opening outwards;
- single or multiple ventilation ducts.
Ventilation air must be drawn directly outside, in a zone away from sources
of pollution. Natural air flow is also enabled indirectly by means of drawing
suitable to their performance and capacity. These boilers cannot be installed
in bedrooms, bath and shower rooms. They must not be installed in rooms
with open chimneys (fireplaces) without having their own air flow. They
must also be installed in a room where the temperature cannot fall below
0°C. and must not be exposed to atmospheric agents.
