16.2 - BLADE - Adjustment of the blade guides because of blade thickness variations:
Dr. RI0181 - This adjustment must be done when a blade with thickness other than stated (0.90 mm for 27 mm size
or 1,10 mm for 34 mm size) is employed or in case the blade has worn down and the blade guides thus are not in
the most suited position. The easiest test is the following: take a straight part of a blade, blunt the teeth, put it inside
the blade guides and let it slide back and forth several times to check the play. Depending on the result, proceed as
follows: loosen slightly the two lower screws - pos. 1, Drawing RI0181, place the piece of blade inside the blade guide
and, while pushing manually from both sides, tighten powerfully the screws again.
Check that the play is not excessive (max. 0.02 or 0.03 mm) and make sure that both screws - pos. 2 / dr. RI0181 -
are properly fastened. Do the same thing with the other blade guide.
The lateral pads are mechanically fixed and they can be replaced without taking out the blade guides from the
machine, simply by unscrewing completely both screws - pos. 2 / dr. RI0181; if you take out both lateral pads you can
remove also the upper pad that is in contact with the blade.
Perpendicularity between blade and worktable
This is very important and, along with the blade tensioning, assures to get a good cut. With the sawframe at 0°, the
sawframe up and the vice opened, put a square at 90° on the worktable (near the support jaws) and very close to the
blade (before it collides with the teeth, though).
While keeping the square still, lower the sawframe till reaching the bottom and evaluate if the blade gets
closer or farther from the square. Lift the sawframe, move the square towards the operator so that the blade
is close to the higher extremity of the square, then drop the sawframe again to the bottom while always
keeping the square still. The blade must be parallel to the square
16.4 - CUTTING SPEED and
FEED FORCE
Rotate the upper handle of control
board to increase/decrease the
penetration force during cutting
operations. For example, increase
it when cutting solids, decrease it
for thin profiles. Rotate the lower
handle - from 0 to the maximum
value in order to increase the
speed of penetration in the work-
piece; the factors to consider are
the following: shape, size and type
of the material to cut, blade speed,
clamping, coolant, blade condition
and so on.
Usually this test allows to
single
out
geometrical
errors, but it is even more
important in order to ensure
that, in case of not perfectly
perpendicular
cuts,
the
reason is not linked with
factors
external
to
the
manufacture of the machine
(for example, blade in a bad
condition, wrong tensioning,
wrong tooth pitch, excessive
force during the cut).
