How to: open and close passport
reader hood
1. Open the right hand door (see previous
section). Note, this door has the retaining
pin that secures the passport reader hood
closed.
2. The passport reader cover is the white
plastic surrounding the flat plate with the
illuminated black PASSPORT entry guide.
3. Grasp the lower front of the passport
reader hood, raise approximately 45
o
until
the holding open stay engages. The
passport reader is hinged at the top rear.
4. With this door open, the printer slide out
tray may be released (see next section).
5. Ensure the printer slide out tray is closed
and secured.
6. The process to close the passport reader
hood is to lightly press at the top front of
the passport reader hood keeping hands,
fingers and clothing clear. This light
pressure releases the soft close stay at the
right rear and the hood will gently close on
its own.
