PROGRAMMING CTCSS CODES IN TX AND RX ON A CHANNEL
The
CTCSS
function allows to « close down » a radio network so as not to be disturbed by
a radio station which is foreign to the network.
Enabled on a repeater, the CTCSS function will filter the calls and will only let those
signals through which are accompanied by the CTCSS of the repeater.
Practically, the CTCSS tone is a sub audible tone and is selected among a list of 50
standard values.
The CTCSS code is enabled or disabled for each channel
BUT
the transceiver and the
receiving station, on top of using the same TX and RX frequencies, must share the same
CTCSS in order to be able to communicate.
