7. Install the cover (see “Installing the cover” on page 62).
8. Reconnect the external cables and power cords to the server; then, connect the
power cords to electrical outlets.
9. Turn on the attached devices; then, turn on the server.
Removing the system board
To remove the system board, complete the following steps.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 59.
2. Turn off the server and all attached devices; then, disconnect the power cords
and all external cables.
3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 61).
Attention: Do not place any strain on the cables that are connected to the
drives in the drive cage; if necessary, disconnect these cables from the drives
before you remove the drive cage.
4. Remove the drive cage:
a. Remove the thumbscrew from the drive cage.
b. Rotate the drive cage upward until it is in the open position.
c. Lift the drive cage out of the server.
5. Note where each cable is connected; then, disconnect all cables from the
system board.
6. Remove any of the following components that are installed on the system board
and put them in a safe, static-protective place:
v Adapters (see “Removing an adapter” on page 65)

Microprocessor and heat-sink (see “Removing the microprocessor and heat
sink” on page 86)
