Preparing the system to remove and replace the expanded function
system backplane
Use this procedure to prepare the system to remove and replace the expanded function system backplane.
Note:
It is recommended that a spare TIM and heat sink, (part number 00E8868), be on hand when
replacing the system processor module into the replacement system backplane.
Before you begin this procedure, ensure that you have authority to log in as an authorized service
provider. The authority levels are described in ASMI authority levels.
If your system is managed by the Hardware Management Console (HMC), use the HMC to repair a part
in the system. For instructions, see “Repairing a part by using the HMC” on page 161.
