Remove the heat sink by sliding it slightly to one side and then lifting it up.
(Sliding the heat sink loosens the thermal grease.)

Release the lever on the side of the microprocessor connector and lift it all the
way up. This releases the microprocessor. Lift the microprocessor out of the
socket.

Store the old microprocessor in a static-protective package.

Touch the static-protective package containing the new microprocessor to any
unpainted metal surface in the computer, and then remove the new
microprocessor.
