3. At the login prompt, type the management-module user name (Windows only).
At the password prompt, type the management-module password. The user
name and password are case sensitive and are the same as those that are used for
management-module Web access. The default management-module user name is
USERID
, and the default password is
PASSW0RD
. (Note that the sixth character in
PASSW0RD
is the number zero (0), not the letter O.).
The Command Line Interface Shell window opens.
4. Type
admin start
and press Enter to obtain administrator privileges.
5. Normally, the date and time are set by the CMM through the Network Time
Protocol (NTP). However, as an option, you can set the date and time of the
switch by typing
date
[MMDDhhmmCCYY]
where:
[MM]
is the month
[DD]
is the day
[hh]
is the hour in 24-hour format
[mm]
is the minute
[CC]
is the century identifier
[YY]
is the last two numbers of the year
For example, the format for 28 November 28 2011 8:46 p.m. is date 112820462011.
Press Enter.
6. Type
admin end
and press Enter to exit from the administrator operating mode
and return to the standard operating mode.

Accessing the switch directly
You can access the switch through devices that are connected directly to the switch
Ethernet port or serial port.
Switch Ethernet connection
To access the switch through the switch Ethernet port, complete following steps:
1. Connect a 10/100 Base-T straight or cross-over cable from the workstation to the
switch external Ethernet port.
2. Open an SSH session using the default switch IP address 10.0.0.1. For
information about IBM Flex System switch bay IP addresses, see the
IBM Flex
System Enterprise Chassis Installation and Service Guide.

For a Windows platform, use an SSH client such as PUTTY.
•
For a Linux platform, type
3. Press Enter.
A command-prompt window opens.
