6.3.
Fuel filter.
6.3.1.
If the engine does not run smoothly check
the fuel filter (1), clean and/or replace as
required. To clean filter remove and wash in
clean fuel.
6.4.
Spark plug.
6.4.1.
Starting failures and mis-fires are
often caused by a fouled or incorrectly
gapped spark plug.
6.4.2.
Remove the HT lead and undo the
spark plug in an anti-clockwise
direction.
6.4.3.
Clean and/or replace spark plug.
To re-insert spark plug tighten up
gently by hand to avoid cross threading, once done tighten it using a box
spanner ¼ turn more. Make sure the spark plug is tightened correctly
otherwise damage can occur.
6.4.4.
NOTE
The use of any spark plug other than the one designated may result
in the engine failing to run correctly becoming overheated and damaged.
6.5.
Exhaust muffler.
Inspect periodically for any loose
fasteners, damage or corrosion. If any
signs of exhaust leakage are found STOP
using the machine and get it properly
repaired or replaced.
NOTE
failure to get
the exhaust repaired or replaced may
result in the engine catching fire.
6.5.1.
The exhaust muffler is fitted with a spark
arrester (1).
6.5.1.1.
The spark arrester is fitted to help
prevent red hot carbon from exiting the
exhaust.
6.5.1.2.
You must check and clean it with a wire brush.
NOTE
You must make
sure that the exhaust has been given time to cool down.
