to any high mechanical loads, vibrations or impacts. They must not be
used as lifting equipment, stepping boards or transport equipment.
Float switches must be protected against magnetic fields.
Any interventions, such as shortening the sliding tube, are to be avoided
as the device would otherwise be damaged.
For devices in an explosion-proof design featuring a connecting cable,
the cable must not be shortened without any guarantee that an earthing
conductor is created with the protective sheathing of the cable.
If the device is mounted such that it is free-hanging over the medium
by means of a connecting cable, a steel cable must be mounted on the
connector by means of a steel bracket for the purposes of strain relief.
Brackets and steel cable are to be purchased from Reed Electronics AG.
Fire-fighting equipment must be attached to the side of the respective
system. Damage to the Reed float switch as a result of an external fire
makes it impossible for the switch to monitor the respective system and
perform control tasks.
Installation in ferromagnetic sockets impairs the functionality of the
switch.
In areas designated as gas group IIC, the connection box must not beco-
me electrostatically charged. It must not be wiped clean with a dry cloth.
Ignitable sparks can occur on the aluminium connection box as a result
of impact. This must be taken into account in the event of installation in
zone 0.
Important note: Failure to observe the hazard notes set out above
may result in damage to the device and therefore the malfunction of the
downstream control unit as well as damage to persons or property.
