Bead Breaking “AH” Wheels (e.g. BMW M3, M5, Some Porsches, Range
Rover, Lancia, etc.)
“AH” (Asymmetrical Humps), “Bead Locking System” wheels may be identified by
looking on the back of a rim for “AH” in the rim size designation casting
(e.g. 8X17-AH).
“AH” wheels are designed so that the lowest point of the safety hump is located at the
valve stem or 180 degrees out. These two points are where it is easiest to loosen the
bead from the bead seat.
