remove the DC power cord from the router’s rear panel. Doing so could
result in an electrical shock or damage the router.
When you re-apply power to the router, plug the AC power cord into the power source.
Operating environment
Observe the following requirements for the router’s operating environment.
Ventilation and heat sources
The modem must be adequately ventilated and kept away from sources of heat.
• Do not block any of the router’s ventilation openings.
• Leave 6 inches of space around the top and sides of the router to ensure adequate ventilation
and prevent overheating.
• Do not place the router near a heat source such as direct sunlight, a radiator, heat register
or vent, oven, stove, amplifier, or other apparatus that produces heat.
Router operating position
Operate the HN9500 router in a vertical position only, as shown in
removing the HN9500 pedestal base
on page 8, unless it is installed in a rack.
To avoid overheating and possible malfunction, do not operate the
router in a horizontal position unless it is mounted in a rack. When the router is in the correct
position for rack mounting, the model name
HN9500
on the front panel and the labels
LAN
and
SAT. IN
on the rear panel are all right-side up.
Attaching or removing the pedestal base
This section explains how to attach or remove the HN9500 router’s pedestal base, which is
shown in
Attaching or removing the pedestal base
on page 7. Use the pedestal base to keep
the router in a vertical position unless the router is installed in a rack.
The installer attaches the pedestal base when the router is installed. Do not remove the base
unless you need to pack or ship the router. The instructions below explain how to attach and
remove the pedestal base.
