The application consists of two files,
HPAdvFoDgn.exe
and
HPtapeFailover_mpio.dll
.
Operation
The diagnostic application is started by double-clicking its icon. It displays a window similar to the window
shown in
Figure 17: Advanced failover diagnostic application
on page 68. The window contains four
panes:
Figure 17: Advanced failover diagnostic application
The Devices pane lists the tape drives and media changers that are associated with the path failover
drivers. This panel lists all devices that are capable of supporting advanced path failover regardless of
whether they are configured to use advanced path failover. In the example above
Changer0
and
Changer2
are paths to an ESL G3 library partition that is not using advanced path failover so two entries
are shown for the same changer. Changer1 has advanced path failover enabled and is only listed once.
Since LTO-5 and older drives do not support advanced path failover, only LTO-6 and newer drives will be
listed.
The Paths pane shows information about the device that is selected in the Drives pane. In
Advanced failover diagnostic application
on page 68, the information is for the media changer named
“Changer1.” The capital A in the Port column of the Paths pane indicates the active control path to the
SMC device server that is currently being used, and the lower case
a
indicates alternate active control
