Lift up on the hood latch, and remove the access panel.

After installing hardware options, replace the access panel. Be sure that the panel is securely locked
into place before powering up the server.
Replacing hot-plug fans
The server supports redundant hot-plug fans ("
Fan locations
" on page
21
) to provide proper airflow to the
server if a primary fan fails.
WARNING:
To prevent personal injury from hazardous energy:
•
Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects.
•
Use tools with insulated handles.
•
Do not place tools or metal parts on top of batteries.
IMPORTANT:
Remove and replace one fan at a time. If the system detects two fan failures in
the same zone, the server shuts down to avoid thermal damage.
