PROG Commands

START PROG
ZPWY-DDL-PAR-START-PROG. If you do not specify a different name, the
SCREEN COBOL program and the application program may contend for the
same device.
•
The START PROG command can cause a TCP to be started. When a PROG
object completes, if a TCP was started as a result of any START PROG command
and no TERM objects are running in the TCP, the TCP is stopped. If the TCP
stops, any properly coded server process that has links only from that TCP also
stops.
•
If a START PROG command is issued from a HP 6530 terminal and no PROG
object is defined for that terminal type, but a PROG object is defined for a HP 6520
terminal, the TCP executes the PROG as if it were defined for a 6520 terminal. The
features that are unique to the 6530 terminal, however, do not function.
•
The PATHMON process enforces a limit of 100 on the number of concurrent
waited RUN PROGRAM and START PROG requests from PATHCOM and SPI
programs, respectively. An attempt to initiate the 101st request is denied with the
following error:
*1148* MAXIMUM NUMBER OF WAITED RUN PROGRAM REQUESTS EXCEEDED
