1000Base-T connections require that all four pairs of wires be connected.

Pins 1 and 2 on connector “A” must be wired as a twisted pair to pins 1 and 2
on connector “B”.
Pins 3 and 6 on connector “A”

be wired as a twisted pair to pins 3 and 6
on connector “B”.

must be wired as a twisted pair to pins 4 and 5
on connector “B”.
Pins 7 and 8 on connector “A”
must be wired as a twisted pair to pins 7 and 8

Pin Assignments
For 1000Base-T operation, all four pairs of wires are used for both transmit
and receive.
