Resetting VPLS BGP connections
When the BGP routing policy or protocol is changed, reset BGP connections in a VPLS to make the
new configurations take effect on the VPLS connections.
To reset VPLS BGP connections:

Binding a VPLS instance
You can associate specific packets with a VPLS instance by using either of the following methods:
•
Binding a Layer 3 interface to the VPLS instance.
After you configure such a binding, all packets received on the Layer 3 interface are forwarded
by the VPLS instance.
•
Binding a service instance to the VPLS instance.
After you configure such a binding, the device matches packets received on the Layer 2
Ethernet port according to the service instance. Packets that match the service instance are
forwarded by the VPLS instance bound to the service instance. A service instance supports
multiple types of packet matching rules (such as matching all packets received on the port,
packets carrying the specified VLAN tags, all tagged packets, and all packets with no VLAN
tags), providing a more flexible VPLS instance access control.
Binding a Layer 3 interface to a VPLS instance
Follow these guidelines when you bind a Layer 3 to a VPLS instance:
•
The router does not support binding a VPLS instance to a VLAN interface.
•
A P2P enabled VPLS instance cannot be bound to a Layer 3 interface.
•
Binding a VPLS instance on a Layer 3 interface disables IP related functions on the
sub-interfaces of the Layer 3 interface. For example, the sub-interfaces cannot receive ARP or
IGMP packets. They cannot forward unicast or multicast packets. After you remove the VPLS
instance binding, the IP related functions on the sub-interfaces recover.
