Muc h of the functionalit y for the Series 425 computers is con tained on a
single system b oard. Most of the in terface con trollers, CPU circuits, memory
con troller and graphics/video circuits are on this system b oard. Eac h mass
storage device has its con troller circuits on a PC b oard that is part of the
device. The 425s also pro vides slots for additional graphics and I/O in terface
b oards.
Information on the Mo del 433 is also co v ered in this Owner's Guide. Since it is
essen tially the same as the 425 but with a faster pro cessor sp eed (33 MHz), no
distinction is made in the information.
Model 425t
The 425t may b e used in either a desktop or deskside conguration. Up to
840 Megabytes of in ternal mass storage is a v ailable. HP-IB, SCSI, RS-232C

-compatible p orts pro vide additional in terfaces for external
p eripherals. RAM may b e expanded from 8 to 64 Megabytes on the 425t.
Model 425s
The 425s is an expandable deskside system designed to maximize b oth
exibilit y and p erformance. In ternal p eripherals include up to 2.6 Gigabytes
of disk capacity , optional CD R OM driv e and optional Digital Data Storage
(DA T) tap e driv e. Up to 128 Megabytes of RAM are p ossible. HP-IB, SCSI,
RS-232C and Cen tronics-compatible p orts pro vide additional in terfaces for
external p eripherals. In addition, options to add an in ternal I/O expander with
3 DIO-II slots or 4 EISA slots may b e purc hased.
