Adding
the
DDS-Format
Driv
e
T
o
add
the
device,

ou
will

make
sure
y
our
system
has

a
scsi
device
driv
er
and
an
appropriate
scsi
device
le.
Y
ou
will
need
a

haracter
(\raw")
device
le
scsi
in
/dev
or
in
a
sub directory
of
/dev .
Since
the
HP
DDS-F
ormat
driv
e
is
similar
to
9-track
tap
e
devices,
it
will
b e
con
v
enien
t
to
place
the
DDS-F
ormat
device
les
in
the
/dev/rmt
directory
whic
h
is
dedicated
to
magnetic
tap
e
device
les.
Setting
Up
the
Device
Driv
er
T
o
c
hec
k
for
the
presence
of
a
device
driv
er,
en
ter
the
following:
grep
scsi
/etc/conf/dfile
If
the
display
sho
ws
b oth
scsi
and
scsitape ,
the
driv
er
is
in
place
and
active.
If
the
display
sho
ws
only
scsi ,
then
the
tap
e
driv
er
is
not
presen
t.
If
the
display
sho
ws
*scsi
(with
an
asterisk),
the
driv
er
is
not
presen
t
(commen
ted
out),
and
y
ou
will
need
to
edit
the
dfile
b
y
removing
the
asterisk
(*)
to
activ
ate
the
driv
er.
