Before removing the fan, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the Battery (see
Battery on page 29
), and then remove the following components:

Service cover (see

b.
Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 31
)
c.
Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 37
)
d.
Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 38
)
e.
Top cover (see
Top cover on page 41
)
f.
Speakers (see

System board (see

Heat sink (see
Heat sink on page 57

Remove the fan:
1.
Remove the cowling material (1) that secures the fan to the heat sink.
2.
Remove the fan (2).
Reverse this procedure to install the fan.
