Introduction
To install the print server, complete these tasks:
■
Record the serial number and MAC address
■
Use the rubber feet
■
Install the hardware (page 7)
■
Use the HP JetDirect CD-ROM to set up your
network printer (see Chapter 3)
Recording the Serial Number and MAC Address
Write down the serial number and MAC Address (on
the bottom of your print server) on the inside of your
manual cover. You might need these when calling for
customer support.
Using the Rubber Feet
Included with your print server are four self-adhesive
rubber feet that prevent your print server from sliding
around on a surface. Stick the feet at each corner on
the bottom of your print server.
Wall Mounting the Print Server
There are two slots on the bottom of the print server
for wall mounting. You can mount the print server
with the connectors facing either up or down.
Hardware Installation
To install the HP JetDirect 300X or 170X
OfficeConnect print server, you need to complete
these steps:
■
Verify that your printer parallel port works properly.
■
Connect the print server to the network.
■
Connect the print server to the printer.
■
Generate a print server configuration page.
