3.4 Malfunctions and special functions
Short circuit protection
The Battery Pack switches off in the event of a high level, external short circuit. Once the short circuit is eliminated,
the Battery Pack must be reset by connecting it to the USB Recharging Cable.
Recharging temperature
In case of inappropriate temperature of the Battery Pack (see chapter 8.1, Technical specification, page 29), the
recharging process is interrupted and the four red LEDs flash at 0.1 second intervals until the Battery Packs are
removed from the USB Recharging Cable or the USB Recharger is unplugged.
The USB Recharger starts recharging again automatically once the temperature conditions have been met.
Recharging time monitoring
If the recharging process takes an unusually long time, this may lead to a safety shutdown. The recharging process
is interrupted and the four red LEDs flash quickly (every 0.1 seconds) until the Battery Packs are removed from the
USB Recharging Cable or the USB Recharger is unplugged. The USB Recharger starts recharging again
automatically when the Battery Packs are reconnected to the USB Recharging Cable and/or the USB Recharger is
plugged back in.
Important information:
Recharge the Battery Packs after each use. This extends the life of the Battery Packs and ensures the
product is always ready to be used.
Frequently overcharging (more than 8 hours) the Battery Packs can cause reduced performance and/or
service life.
Battery Packs consist of lithium-ion battery cells and can be charged in any condition. This means it is not
necessary to let the Battery Pack run down completely before recharging it.
Battery Packs must not be recharged if the battery temperature is below 10°C/50°F. You should therefore
store the Battery Packs at room temperature (+20°C/+68°F) for a few hours before recharging.
Before putting the Battery Packs into storage for a long time (several months), they should only be half
charged (1st and 2nd LEDs light up red and 3rd LED flashes slowly) in order to increase the service life.
If stored for a long time (several months), the Battery Packs must be recharged before use.
The Battery Packs should be stored switched off (all the LEDs off) and disconnected from the Recharger and
from the Heat Socks XLP with the Contact Protection Covers attached.
