Switching Into Deep Water Culture
The Eden Garden can be converted to utilize the Deep Water Culture (DWC) method of
hydroponics. This method is great for growing larger plants as it gives the roots more
space to grow. You will need to purchase an air pump for aeration when using the DWC
method. The air pump will keep the water oxygenated. The air pump can also be used with
the normal tray set up as well for better results.
Before converted to DWC:
You will start your plants off with the normal tray system. This is needed to germinate the
plants and get the roots long enough to switch to DWC. You want to make sure the plants
roots are long enough to reach the water in the reservoir when the tray is removed. If you
convert too soon and the roots cannot reach the water, the plant will die as it can no longer
take in any water or nutrients.
