Installing Air Pump:
Air pumps are used to oxygenate the water. If water is not oxygenated, it can cause many
issues with your hydroponic system. When water is being circulated by the pump it gets
oxygenated and there is no need for an Air Pump. However, it can help improve growth
rates and optimize your system to install an Air pump to make sure your water is always
oxygenated. At the time this manual was printed there is not air pump available
specifically from Hope Innovations, however they can easily be purchased from any pet
store / aquarium dealer.
Installing the Air pump is surprisingly simple. You will need:
-
Air Pump
-
Air Stone
-
Air Hose
Tip: You can use Air hose for the “Food Grade Hose” that the water pump uses. We have
designed it with the same hose for convivence and universality. This means if your water
hose has issues, you can replace it with the air hose easily.
1. Connect the hose to the Air Pump and Air Stone. The Air Pump should have a “spout”
that the hose can be pushed into. The Air Stone will also have a “spout” that the hose
can be pushed into.
2. Place the Air Stone into the Reservoir. Try to keep the Air Stone about 3-4 inches (100
cm) away from the water pump. The bubbles the stone has coming out can be sucked
in by the water pump and it will lose prime and stop pumping water.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT SUBMERGE THE AIR PUMP. The Air Pump MUST be kept out of the
water. Place it outside beside the reservoir.
