7.3.3 THE CRISS CROSS STYLE
HARNESS (figure 8A):
STEP 1
(figure 8A)
First, pick up the
harness by the back D-ring. The back
D-ring has a letter “A” and arrow stamped
on the webbing below the D-ring pad.
(figure 8A) This will allow you to distin-
guish between the front and back of the
harness. Be sure that all straps are unfas-
tened before
donning. On some models, the leg straps
of the harness are a different color to help
identify the lower portion of the harness
and aid the donning sequence.
STEP 2
(figure 8B) The shoulder straps cross at
the front,
through the front
D-ring pad and
at the back
through the
back D-ring pad.
Grasp first one
and then the
other
shoulder strap
and separate
them. Lift the
shoulder straps
over your head
and position
onto your shoul-
ders with your
head between the two straps (figure 8B).
Make sure that the straps are crossed in
the back and that the harness is not
turned inside out. Both D-ring pads
should lie flat against your body with the
back D-ring in an outward position and
both letters “A” visible.
STEP 3
(figure 8C) The chest straps will
now be
hanging
loosely in
front. Grasp
the
friction buck-
le at your left
front hip and
feed the left
hand chest
strap through
the buckle
(figure 8C),
making sure
that the strap is
secure (figure
12). Repeat this process with the right
hand strap.
STEP 4
(figure 8D) The leg straps should
now be hanging
behind your
buttocks. Reach
between your
legs and pull
the straps
through one at
a time, and
connect them
to the quick
connect buckle
at your hips.
Adjust the chest
strap buckles for
a comfortable
fit. All straps should be secured firmly. Leg
straps should allow comfortable movement
but be snug and evenly adjusted. A guide
for a snug fit is that your fingers should fit
beneath the strap to the knuckles but not
beyond.action.
