9.3.1 INSTALLATION OF A
TRAUMA STRAP
The trauma strap should be located at
the cross of the shoulder strap and leg
strap. (above hip area) (see figure 18A)
STEP 1
(figure 18B) Install the loop of the
trauma strap through
the shoulder strap of
the harness.
STEP 2
(figure 18C)
Ensure that you pass
the trauma strap loop
between the two
shoulder straps.
STEP
3
(figure 18D) Pass the
entire pouch through
the loop end of the
trauma strap and finally
Velcro the opposite
end to the leg strap as
shown. (Velcro attach-
ment is located at the
opposite end of the trauma strap)
STEP 4
(figure 18E) To deploy the
trauma strap after a fall, pull on the tabs
that are labelled “PULL”. The strap
should deploy out of the neoprene pouch
and expose the foot loops.
STEP 5
(figure 18F) Attach the two leg
straps together using the buckle as
shown.
STEP 6
(figure 18G) Adjust the length of
the straps by pulling on the loose ends of
each strap. The straps should be tight
enough to alleviate the pressure that the
harness leg straps are putting on your
legs.
STEP 7
(figure 18H) Adjust the straps to
obtain the most comfortable position
while standing in the stirrups. Wait for the
rescue team to arrive and do not, under
any circumstances, remove any of the
straps on the full body harness.
WARNING
After the trauma strap has been used,
do not lay down (stand upright) and
seek medical attention immediately.
