OPERATION:
WAN Radio Supercap
The WAN radio supercap is located directly above the 802.11/Bluetooth radio on the main logic board. It is not a
component of the main logic board. If it is defective or if you are installing a new main logic board a new WAN
radio supercap will need to be installed. Otherwise it should not be disturbed.

Removal
1. Remove the bottom housing assembly (refer to Bottom Housing operation).
2. Remove the scan bracket assembly (refer to Scan Bracket Assembly operation).
3. Remove the WAN radio assembly (heatsink, radio card, coax cables).
4. Carefully peel the supercap away from the gore shield located over the 802.11/Bluetooth radio module. Be very
careful not to damage the gore shield or pull it away from the main logic board.
5. Unsolder the supercap leads from the main logic board.
Installation
1. Verify that the insulators at each end of the gore shield are still in place. If this is a new main logic board you will
need to install new insulators before placing the new WAN supercap.
2. Place the new WAN supercap on the gore shield.
3. Solder the leads of the new WAN supercap to the main logic board.
4. Re-install the WAN radio components.
5. Re-install the Scan Bracket Assembly.
6. Re-install the Bottom Housing Assembly.
