B. Transmitter Unit Features
Some of the main features of the transmitter unit are as follows:
(1)
If no NAIM is attached to the transmitter unit, the transmitter will automatically default to
the short 112-bit 406 MHz signal format.
(2)
If a NAIM is attached to the transmitter unit, then the transmitter will automatically default
to the long 144-bit 406 MHz signal format.
(3)
Upon crash, the transmitter unit is automatically activated by an internal G-switch.
(4)
Transmits the unique 406 MHz digital message, programmable to any of the following five
short 112-bit protocols:
Short (112 bit) Protocols
(a)
Serialized Aviation User Protocol
(b)
Aviation User Protocol
(c)
24-bit Aircraft Address Protocol
(d)
Aircraft Operator Designator and Serial Number Protocol
(e)
Serial Number Protocol.
(5)
For transmitter unit with the NAIM attached, the transmitter unit can transmit any one of
the following seven long 144-bit protocols:
Long (144-bit) Protocols
(a)
Standard Location Protocols
•
Serial Identification, Standard Location Protocol
•
24-bit Aircraft Address, Standard Location Protocol
•
Aircraft Operator Designator and Serial Number, Standard Location Protocol
(b)
User Location Protocols
•
Serial Number, User Location Protocol
•
Aircraft Nationality and Registration Markings, User Location Protocol
•
24-bit Aircraft Address, User Location Protocol
•
Aircraft Operator Designator and Serial Number, User Location Protocol
(6)
Transmits two analog signals at frequencies of 121.5 and 243 MHz for close-in homing.
