WARNING
–
EXTREME
HAZARD!
Do not use a rearward facing
child restraint on a seat protected
by an airbag in front of it.
The child could be seriously
injured if the airbag inflates, as
the child's head would be very
close to the inflating airbag.
{
Danger
A child in a forward-facing child
restraint can be seriously injured
or killed if the outboard front
passenger airbag inflates and the
passenger seat is in a forward
position. Where legally allowable,
you may install a forward-facing
child restraint in the outboard
front passenger seat, but always

move the passenger seat as far
back as it will go. The forward
facing child restraint must still be
attached to the passenger side
child restraint anchorage points,
located behind the rear seat. It is
better to secure the child restraint
in a rear seat.
If the child restraint has a top tether,
see
for how and where to
install the child restraint using a top
tether. If a child restraint is secured
using a seat belt and it uses a top
tether, see
for top tether
anchor locations.
You will be using the lap-shoulder
belt to secure the child restraint in
this position. Follow the instructions
that came with the child restraint.
1. Move the seat as far back as it
will go before securing the
forward-facing child restraint.
2. Put the child restraint on
the seat.
3. Pick up the latch plate, and run
the lap and shoulder portions of
the vehicle's seat belt through or
around the restraint. The child
restraint instructions will show
you how.
