12. Hand-held Machine Operation – large miter and square joints

1. Place both parts to be joined in proper alignment to each other and mark the desired locations for Dovetail
Keys with thin pencil marks.
2. Secure the workpiece onto a stable work surface with clamps, screws, etc.
3. Set routing stroke (length of router carriage travel) with the height adjustment collar.
4. Align the machine on the workpiece until the hairline pointer in the sight window is directly above the pencil
mark.
5. Turn on the machine and press down on the front handle with one hand while holding the motor with the other
hand. Slowly and carefully push the motor carriage down into the material until the pre-set depth has been
reached.
6. Pull the motor back up and switch off the machine before removing it from the workpiece.
WARNING:
Keep hands clear of router bit at all times. Bits have sharp edges and will cut even if the motor is turned off.
Touching a spinning router bit can case severe hand injury!!!
Always turn the motor off when removing material and when adjusting the machine.
Never rout into material not held securely on the table.
