9. Stationary Machine Operation – 45-degree miters with one key per joint
1. The machine is secured along the edge of a sturdy surface, e.g. workbench, etc. with two 8 x 3/4" pan head
screws.
2. The moulding is placed on the machine table, with the miter face tight against the machine fence.
3. The keyway location is set by adjusting the center fence to the desired position.
4. The routing stroke (length of router carriage travel) is set with height adjustment collar.
5. The operator turns on the machine and holds the moulding tightly on the table and against the center fence
with one hand. The motor is slowly and carefully pulled up with the other hand until the pre-set stop has been
reached, it is then lowered back down.
Never place your hand or fingers directly above the router bit – always assume that router bit could
cut all the way through material!
6. The motor is switched off and the moulding removed from the machine.
WARNING:
Keep hands clear of router bit at all times. Bits have sharp edges and will cut even if the motor is turned off.
Touching a spinning router bit can case severe hand injury!!!
Always turn the motor off when removing material and when adjusting the machine.
Never rout into material not held securely on the table.
Small workpieces that cannot be held securely by hand must be fastened to a workbench, etc. and routed as described
under “Hand-Held Routing Operation”.
