ZIG-ZAG STITCHING
The zig-zag stitch can be used for seam finishing, applique work, or decorative
sewing.
SEAM FINISHING
Seam edges keep the garment form and should be given durable finishing,
particularly if the fabric is prone to ravelling.
There are two different ways to finish seams: trimming after stitching the
seam edge or overedging. It is recommended to try both techniques on fabric
scraps.
a) Overedging
Set the machine to stitch 5 or 6 using the stitch selection dial (10). Fix the foot
for satin stitch (not included, it is an all-purpose foot). Sew the fabric so that
the right side of the stitch is at the edge of the seam. Trim the seam edges
evenly.
