7. Cleaning and care
• If necessary, clean the vehicle with water and a soft sponge or soft brush.
• The Gates Carbon Drive Belt is also cleaned with water and does not need to be
lubricated.
• The contacts of the batt ery and the batt ery holder on the frame can be wiped
with a damp cloth. Wait unti l the contacts are dry before reatt aching the batt ery.
A high-speed jet of water can cause damage to the bearings, NuVinci hub,
Bosch batt ery, motor and display. The manufacturer is not liable for these
damages.
-> Only use a weak garden hose that provides a slow jet of water.
Oil or spray wax that gets onto the brake discs or pads makes the braking
eff ect worse.
-> Prevent the spray wax or oil from coming into contact with the brake
discs or pads!
8. Transporti ng on a car
To avoid damage caused by transporti ng the vehicle on the outside of a car, observe
the following instructi ons:
The batt ery can become loose when the vehicle is being transported on
a car roof and poses a risk to other road users.
-> Remove the batt ery and any non-bolted accessories from your vehicle
before transporti ng it on a car on a rear or roof rack.
If you transport the XD2 Urban on a car in the rain and at high speeds,
water can get into the Rohloff hub, the Bosch motor, the batt ery and
the display.
-> Remove the batt ery.
-> Use a protecti ve cover for the vehicle, covering the hub, motor and display.
The weight of the vehicle places increased demands on the rear or roof
rack of a car. Unsuitable bike racks can break during the journey or may not
be completely safe for your vehicle.
-> Check the potenti al roof load in the car's operati ng manual and the
bearing load in the car's bike rack manual.
Li-ion batt eries are subject to the requirements of the hazardous goods law.
Private users can transport the batt ery on the road without restricti ons.
In the case of commercial transport (e.g. haulage), regulati ons on packaging
and labelling must be observed (e.g. the provisions of the ADR).
