DEMOLITION HAMMER SAFETY WARNINGS
1.
Wear ear protectors
Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.

Use auxiliary handle(s), if supplied with the tool.
Loss of control can cause personal injury.

Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces,
when performing an operation where the cutting
accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own
cord.
Cutting accessory contacting a "live" wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and
could give the operator an electric shock.

PRIOR TO OPERATION
1. Power source
Ensure that the power source to be utilized conforms
to the power requirements speci
fi
ed on the product
nameplate.
2. Power switch
Ensure that the power switch is in the OFF position. If
the plug is connected to a receptacle while the power
switch is in the ON position, the power tool will start
operating immediately, which could cause a serious
accident.
3. Extension cord
When the work area is removed from the power source,
use an extension cord of su
ffi
cient thickness and rated
capacity. The extension cord should be kept as short
as practicable.
4. Installing tools
CAUTION
Be sure to switch power OFF and disconnect the plug
from the receptacle to avoid serious trouble.
NOTE
Concerning the tools such as bull points and cutters,
be sure to use separately sold genuine parts that are
designated by HITACHI.
(1) Wipe o
ff
and clean up the shank section of the tool,
and apply grease or machine oil onto it.
(2) Insert the shank section of the tool completely into the
hexagonal hole of the front cover at a state where the
slide grip is fully pulled in the direction of as shown
in
Fig. 1
.
(3) Return the slide grip to its home position and make
sure that the tool is pulled and locked securely.
(4) Removal is carried out at a state where the slide grip is
fully pulled in the directon of in a manner similar to
the case of installing the tool.
CAUTION
Be sure to grip the handle and side handle during work.
Do not hold by the slide grip during work: If you pull it
by mistake, the bull point could jump out.
4. Do not touch the bit during or immediately after
operation. The bit becomes very hot during operation
and could cause serious burns.
5. Before starting to break, chip or drill into a wall,
fl
oor or
ceiling, thoroughly con
fi
rm that such items as electric
cables or conduits are not buried inside.
6. Even when the switch is on, the motor is running and
the tool head is pressed to the demolition surface,
the hammer sometimes does not start operating. In
these instances, turn the switch o
ff
, press the tool
head against the demolition surface again, and turn
the switch on and o
ff
. This should start the demolition
hammer operating. Repeat this procedure for several
minutes, and the demolition hammer will heat, after
which it will operate when switched to ON-LOCK.
