In addition to the safety precautions, the following preparations at the jobsite must be made.
– Make sure that a water connection or pressurized container with continuous water flow is avail-
able.
– Make preparations for the flow of water. If necessary, install water extraction equipment. When
drilling into hollow building components, find out where the drilling water is likely to flow, in or-
der to avoid damage.
– A power supply with earth/ground connection must be available for use.
– Measure out and mark holes to be drilled.
– Safe electrical operation of the DD 100 MEC can only be guaranteed as long as moisture is pre-
vented from entering the motor. All electrical safety precautions can only reduce the consequences
of allowing water to enter a DD100MEC motor, but not eliminate them.A DD100MEC motor which
has become wet must be serviced by the electrical specialists at a Hilti centre.
Selecting the system
The DD100 MEC is designed for wet drilling:
Up to 42 mm dia. = hand-held drilling
Up to 87 mm dia. = stationary drilling with
DD-80E/RA drill stand
DD-80RAL/H drill stand
S-system rails
When stationary drilling, please also observe the operating instructions for the drill stand.

Caution:
A properly functioning water collector must be used for overhead drilling.A leaky extraction
device or sealing disc must be replaced immediately (see page 19). Failure to observe this point could
present a risk of fatal accident. Use of wet vacuum removal is absolutely essential for overhead drilling.
Additional safety precautions
– When drilling, make sure you have a secure position to work from.
– Hold the DD 100 MEC firmly with both hands.
– Pay attention and concentrate on the job when working.
