Chapter 3 Installation
Overview
Before installation, prepare the site according to the requirements in Chapter 2
Installation Preparation , and use the procedures below to install the device.
1. Perform security check according to Safety Requirements .
2. Install the device in a rack or cabinet according to Installing the Firewall Device
in a Rack .
3. Install the expansion modules and power modules you need according
to
Installing Expansion Modules and Installing a Power Module .
4. Ground the device. See Grounding the Chassis .
5. Connect Console cable for the device. See Connecting the Console Cable .
6. Connect the power supply cable according to Connecting an AC Power Cable
or Connecting a DC Power Cable .
7. Power on the device. See Powering On/Off the FirewallDevice .
8. Verify the installation according to Verification after Installation .
Safety Requirements
To avoid personnel injury or harm to the device, follow the guidelines in this section.
Note that this manual does not cover all the safety requirements, warnings or
guideline for operating electric devices.
General Safety Warnings
The following guidelines apply to any operational situations:

Make sure only authorized personnel can perform operations to the device.

Keep the area around the device free from dust, fire and humidity.
♦
Keep tools and accessories away from places where people might get tripped
while walking.
♦
Do not wear loose clothes or jewelry, such as earrings and bracelets, as they
might be caught in the chassis.
♦ Do not attempt to lift an object that is too heavy for one person to handle.
♦
Never manipulate the wire in electrical storms.
♦ Do not open or remove the chassis cover or metal parts unless it is specifically
instructed in the manual.
♦ Avoid spilling liquid onto the device or onto any part.
