Assemble and Connect the Patient Circuit
7.
Connect a spring-valve “tee” adapter
into the inspiratory limb of the patient
circuit (I). See Step 6.
NOTE:
If required, attach the oxygen bleed-in
adapter to the output port of the blue
ventilator adapter (G).

Assemble the nebulizer kit and add the
prescribed medication. See page 22.

If the nebulizer is not required, make sure the handset plug is
installed tightly to cover the nebulizer port on the blue ventilator
adapter.
Connect the Volara™ Patient Circuit to an Oxygen Source
WARNING:
To help prevent injury and/or equipment damage, obey these
warnings
:

Warning
—Do not connect the system to an unregulated or high-
pressure oxygen source.
•
Warning
—The patient circuit is for single patient use only.
Always use a new patient circuit when using the system on a new
patient. Failure to do so could cause cross contamination.
CAUTION:
Caution
—When using oxygen with this system, power on the system
before you turn on the oxygen source. Before you power down the
system, turn off the oxygen source. This helps to prevent oxygen from
accumulating in the system.
1.
Connect the patient circuit following Step 1 to Step 6 in section
“Connect the Volara™ Patient Circuit” on page 17.
2.
Connect one end of the oxygen bleed-
in adapter (I) to the output port of the
clear spontaneous breathing adapter
(H).
3.
Connect the patient circuit to the other
end of the oxygen bleed-in adapter (J).
4.
Connect the oxygen bleed-in adapter
(K) to the oxygen tubing from the
oxygen source (for example, a flow-meter or oxygen concentrator).
