In general, cameras under $1,000 do not have the ability to save a
setting to push out text (record/battery status) from the camera down
to the LCD. There is a way to achieve this on less expensive cameras,
but it's applied every time the camera is turned
on. Once memorized it
takes about 5 secs.
With the new remote (with light on it) this becomes
an option.
