7.
In HPE OneView, create a new logical enclosure and new server profiles, which includes new logical JBODs.
NOTE: For more information, see Logical JBOD drive selection.
8.
Verify the drives that are assigned by the logical JBOD match the drive assignments recorded in step 2.
9.
Power down the server.
10. Remove the spare drives.
11. Insert the drives that were removed in step 4.
Make sure that the drives are inserted in their original drive positions.
Removing a storage module without disturbing servers in a frame
Remove a storage module from a frame while keeping the nonstorage compute modules and servers powered up and running.
Procedure
1. In HPE OneView, edit or delete all server profiles that contain the logical JBODs.
2. Edit the enclosure group by doing the following:
a. Delete the SAS logical interconnect group.
b. Edit the existing logical enclosure from the group.
Moving the storage module to a different bay
Prerequisites
Hewlett Packard Enterprise supports moving the HPE Synergy D3940 Storage Module to a different bay within the Synergy
frame. Before moving the storage module, all logical drives exposed to the Smart Array and located in the mezzanine slot must
be in the OK state. If any logical drives are degraded or failed, you must repair the logical drive and wait for the drive rebuild to
complete.
Procedure
1. Remove the D3940 Storage Module.
2. Install the D3940 Storage Module into the new bay in the Synergy frame.
3. Access the HPE OneView storage enclosure page to ensure that the refresh completes and all the alerts clear.
This process may take several minutes to complete.
4. Power on the compute modules.
5. Access HPE OneView and make sure that the server profiles are OK.
