Firmware

Firmware is preinstalled on each module in the factory, but an updated firmware version may be made available on a periodic
basis. Maintaining current firmware is critical for ongoing support and to ensure that your operating environment has the latest
solution-level features and functions.

To view the installed firmware version, from the HPE OneView main menu, select either the interconnects or drive enclosures
page. Make note of the installed firmware version on each connection module. The HPE Synergy storage module and
connection module allow nondisruptive firmware updates, even in nonredundant configurations.

IMPORTANT: When two HPE Synergy 12Gb SAS Connection Modules are installed in a frame, make sure that they are
running the same firmware version. If the connection modules are not on the same version, an alert appears in HPE
OneView. To clear the alert, follow the steps in the 

Updating the firmware section.

Updating the firmware

HPE OneView supports flashing the SAS connection module and storage module from both the Logical Enclosure and Logical
Interconnect page. From the Logical Enclosure page, all devices in the frame are updated. From the Logical Interconnect page,
only the device selected is updated.

The following procedure details updating firmware from the Logical Enclosure page and will update all devices in the frame.

Procedure

1. From the HPE OneView main menu, select the Logical Enclosures option.

2. Click Actions, and then select the Update firmware option.

3. Select one of the two available firmware update options:

a. Orchestrated—Selected by default and is recommended to enable a fully nondisruptive firmware update.
