Connecting appliances
Connect the compact flash units or continuous light sources
with suitable, grounded power cords to the sockets on the
Po-
wer Max L
. We do not recommend the use of so-called “plug
adapters”. Check
BEFORE USE
if the supply voltage of the units
to be connected and the lamps in use (e.g. modeling lights)
matches the indications on the
Power Max L
.
On the
Power Max L
230V/50Hz, you can use units with an
operating voltage of 200-240V/50Hz.
Appliances can be connected while the
Power Max L
is either
switched on or off. However, the units to be connected should
be switched off to prevent an accidental overload.
ATTENTION!
Switch off the connected flash units’ modeling lights. The Power
Max L does also support a 300 W modeling light when opera
-
ting an Integra Mini or Integra Plus – this leads, however, to a
drastically reduced battery capacity. If it is absolutely necessary
to work with a modeling light, and if a reduced number of fla
-
shes is acceptable, Integra Mini and Integra Plus can be equip
-
ped with 100 W modeling lights. The flash units’ “Flash Check“
function (FC) must be activated when using a modeling light to
reduce the power intake during the charge process.
ATTENTION!
Expert D flash units must be switched to „PM MODUS“ (battery
mode „BAT“) which optimizes the electronics for this application
and automatically reduces the modeling light to 100 W (see
following chapter).
NOTE
: When using a Speed Max, please keep in mind that
this may quickly run down the batteries due to its extremely fast
flash sequences. Keep enough fully charged batteries on hand.
PM mode (Expert D)
Hallmarks of the compact flash units of the Expert D series are
their especially short flash duration times and fast flash sequen
-
ces - also when operated with a
Power Max L
. This results in a
comparatively high power consumption. In order to guarantee
optimum functioning, the Expert D must be switched to a spe-
cial mode when used in connection with a
Power Max L
.
