FAULT FINDING
If a problem of any description is suspected with the Heatstar unit, firstly ensure the following;
CAUTION ! - isolate the Heatstar unit electrically before removing any access panel.
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
Power at the Heatstar unit :
Ensure that the
‘POWER’ amber neon on the Heatstar unit is lit.
If it is not, then there is no electricity supply to the Heatstar unit - check that :
-
the RCD and MCB and any other switch controlling the electricity.
-
any external time clock is switched on at all times.
-
the neutral wire is properly connected.
Tripping of supply :
If the RCD / MCB supplying electricity to the Heatstar unit keeps tripping check :
-
With the Heatstar unit isolated off from the mains electricity supply (both live & Neutral) the RCD does
not continue to trip. This indicates that the electrical fault is not within the Heatstar unit.
-
If the RCD or MCB supplying the Heatstar unit cannot be re-set or trips as soon as electricity is
connected to the Heatstar. This indicates an electrical short within the Heatstar unit.
Ensure that the electricity supply to the Heatstar unit is isolated and remove the access panel to check
for the presence of water within the unit which may be causing the short. If no water is present, then the
problem is likely to relate to the air fan. Please contact Heatstar for further advice.
-
If the RCD re-sets initially, enabling the Heatstar fan to run, and then trips after a few minutes, this
indicates a possible problem with the refrigeration compressor motor circuit. Please contact Heatstar for
further advice.
WATER FLOW CUT-OUT :
If this red neon is lit then there is insufficient flow of pool water through the Heatstar unit. If this is lit, check that :
-
The pool water filtration pump is running.
-
Any valves controlling flow through the Heatstar unit are in the correct position.
-
That the pool water filter pressure gauge is reading less than 16 PSI.
-
Ensure that the pool water filter does not require back washing.
-
That there is no sign of air in the pool filtration system.
-
Run the pool filter on
‘re-circ’ temporarily test. This by-passes the filter medium and will result in
increased pool water flow rate.
When sufficient flow is restored, the Heatstar unit will automatically re-set and function normally.
SYSTEM CUT-OUT :
If this red neon is lit then the operation of the product has been stopped due to incorrect pressures within the
refrigeration circuit.
This would have been caused by either the refrigeration circuit
‘over heating’ or by low circuit pressure caused
by an escape of refrigerant.
