NASIM REAR DIRECT VENT DECORATIVE GAS APPLIANCE
b. Installing the Slip Section
Slide the slip section vent through the hole in the
wall shield with the end of the vent with the lances
on the outer vent going away from the appliance.
Align the inner flue on the slip section with the inner
collar on the appliance and insert the outer flue on
the slip section into the outer collar on the appliance.
Snap the slip section to the appliance. Extend the
slip section until it penetrates the wall shield and
extends to the outside surface of the wall. There
should be a minimum of 1-1/2 of overlap between
the two halves of the slip section. See Figure 7.
Secure the length of the slip section by driving two
self-tapping screws through the overlapping portion
of the outer vent. See Figure 22, page 14.
c. Installing the Termination Cap
Install the cap as shown in Figure 7. The cap collar
pieces should overlap the vent sections by at least
1-1/2. The termination must not be recessed in the
wall or siding. The siding may be brought to the
edge of the cap base. Caulk the outside edges of
the cap. Local codes may require the installation of
a shield (CS) which prevents the cap from
accidentally touching anything or anyone.
Figure 13 on page 10 illustrates cap locations by
current ANSI Z273.1 and CAN/CGA-B146
Installation Codes.
2. HORIZONTAL TERMINATION (using
additional sections of vent)
a. No Elbows
The maximum horizontal run with no vertical
sections of vent is 18 from the back of the appliance
to the base of the cap. See Figure 8.
