CANHEAD
CONNECTION
In the CANHEAD family, TEDS is supported by the CB1010 base module because it is
intended for use with transducers. The CB1010 module enables the transducer informa­
tion stored in the electronic data sheet to be read and converted into amplifier settings.
Measurement can thus be started immediately.
CANHEAD supports TEDS transducers using the data protocol (one‐wire protocol)
defined in the IEEE 1451.4 standard.
The connection diagram is the same as with CB1010 for transducers without TEDS (see
chapter 7.3.1), because for transmitting the transducer identification that has been
stored in digital format, the excitation and sense leads already available with the six‐wire
circuit are used (”HBM zero wire technology”).
Loading TEDS data into the amplifier

Using the display and control panel of the MGCplus:
In the factory settings, you find the F2 TEDS key in the second level of function keys.
- Press F4 in measure mode
- Press the F2 TEDS key

Using the MGCplus Assistant setup software:
Execute ”Set up channel/channels from TEDS”

Using the catman data acquisition software:
Execute ”Sensor Scan”
7.4 Connecting CANHEAD to MGCplus
Standard cables or cables of individual lengths can be used to connect the CANHEAD
modules (for the PIN assignment, see the Table below).
Standard cable:

1‐KAB267‐2 (2 m long standard connecting cable between CANHEAD and MGCplus or
between two CANHEADs)
To make up individual cables, you need:

4‐3301.0180 by the meter, Device Net cable for interconnecting the CANHEAD mod­
ules
S
1‐CANHEAD‐M12 (male and female connectors)
PIN assignment for the male and female CAN connectors on the back of the housing
