15 MAINTENANCE
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before
reparing
Here follows a list of the ordinary maintenance operations.
The extraordinary maintenance operations (repairs on parts) may only
be undertaken by specialized personnel authorized by the manufacturer.
15.1 EVERY 8 WORKING HOURS
l
Clean the cutting bar and check that the blades are neither worn or
damaged
l
Adjust the blade press plates (ref. B in fig. 13) so that the blade
can slide without any excessive play or rubbing
l
Check the condition of the transmission joint of the PTO and lubricate
the inside of the blade guide
l
Check the tightness of the fixture screws of the cutter bar and of the
plough handles
l
Check the function of the operational levers and adjust them should
they be loose
l
Check the oil level of the gearbox
l
Check the oil level of the engine
l
Check the ensure that all the advice and warning plates are present
and in good condition, should they be damaged or missing replace
them.
15.2 PERIODICALLY (EVERY 12 MONTHS)
l
Carry out maintenance on all the engine parts as indicated in the
relative maintenance booklet
l
Check the state of the clutch belts and replace them should they show
signs of wear, according to the instructions in the paragraph entitled
Clutch belt replacement.
l
Check the conditions of the cutting bar and should they be found to
be worn or damaged undertake to replace them according to the
instructions in the paragraph entitled blade replacement
l
Lubricate the blade movement transmission joint
15.3 BELT REPLACEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
To replace the clutch belts carefully follow these instructions:
1. Switch off the engine and disconnect the power supply
2. Check that the clutch lever has been completely released
3. Adjust the regulation screw of the clutch lever (ref. A in fig.12)
4. Remove the clutch casing (ref. 3 in fig. 1)
5. Remove the worn or damaged belt and insert the new one
6. Check that the belt-stretcher is efficient
7. Replace the clutch casing
8. Adjust the clutch lever play using the relative regulation screw
9. Connect the power supply.
Pay attention to the risk of finger crushing during
the belt replacement stage.
15.4 BLADE REPLACEMENT
For blade replacement carefully follow these instructions:
1. Allow the bar to function on idle for a few seconds
2. Position the blade operating lever to idle
3. Switch off the engine
4. Slightly loosen the screws of the bar pressing plates (ref. B in fig. 13)
5. Remove the blade guide (ref. C in fig. 13)
6. Extract the blade sideways
7. Insert the new or sharpened blade
8. Fix the blade guide
9. Adjust the blade pressing plates in order to permit the sliding of the
blade without any excessive play or rubbing.
Pay attention to the potential risk of hand injury
during blade removal and insertion
For fixing the blade guide use the screws previously
removed or screws of the same length; screws of
excessive length may impede movement.
