CLUTCH LINKAGE
The new HARRY gearbox available on all walk-behind selfpropelled lawn
mowers, has a very smooth drive engangement, due to its exclusive oil
bath clutch.
Everything works well provided the load on the clutch is right: the load is
controlled through the spring A, at the upper end of the cable B, connecting
the gearbox G (inside the lawn mower) to the engagement handle
(mounted on the upper end of the lawn mower handle)
To check and correct (if necessary) the tension on the spring A, the following
sequence should be followed:
1 Check the length (L
0
) of the spring A, when the engagement handle is
in "dis-engaged" position (engagement bar far away from lawn mower
handle).
2 Pull the engagement handle into "engaged" position (engagement
handle as close as possible to the upper part of lawn mower handle)
and check the length (L
1
) of the spring A.
3 When: (L
1
- L
0
) = 0.47 (+ 0.04") the spring tension is right.
4 If (L
1
- L
0
) is lower or higher than 0.47", the spring tension must be
corrected as follows:
4.1 Prevent rotation of cable B throught hexagon C.
4.2 Loosen and rotate nuts D and E until (L
1
- L
0
) is close enough to 0.4".
4.3 Re-tighten bolts D and E to bracket F, in order to make sure the
spring tension cannot alter while working.
8) STORAGE PROCEDURE
Storage procedure:
Take the following steps to prepare your mower for storage at the end of
the mowing season. Refer to the engine manual for directions for preserving
the engine. With the spark plug wire disconnected from plug, turn the
mower on its side and thoroughly clean underside of deck. Scrape away
accumulation of grass with putty knife and/or wire brush first, then wash
down with water from a hose.
CAUTION:
Avoid spraying water into exhaust or air intake while washing
deck - tape openings closed to prevent this. Clean external surfaces of
mower and allow to dry, then lubricate all exposed metal surfaces with a
light coating of oil to prevent corrosion. The grass catcher may be washed
in detergent; allow to dry thoroughly after washing. Store mower during
off season in a storage shed or dry area protected from weather.
